Even in the toughest economic troubles,
Audi’s have weathered the storm, not just retaining their strong
sales figures; but increasing them. A huge portion of this success is
down to the timeless TT, a car which has defied the customary car
tradition of ‘going out of fashion’ and gone from strength to
strength, becoming a cult car of this generation.
Showing their true design potential,
Audi unveiled the hugely popular Audi TT in 1998, launching a ‘craze’
which saw the TT as the ultimate fashion accessory. With its
curvaceous exterior and trademark grill on the front, the TT was
typically Audi; but with a touch of genius.
Not just a stunning design, the first
generation TT was a demonstration of Audi’s superb build skills
too; with a high-quality and robust interior, finished off perfectly
with the finest quality materials. With a top speed of 155mph
(250km/h) the TT wasn’t just for show; it was a powerful car which
meant business.
Although Audi had made the TT to be a
powerful machine which was to compete directly with everyday
supercars; the model seemed to be favoured more by women, and became
known as a feminine car. As a result, TT car
insurance for women became significantly lower than men’s, and
the popularity for the model amongst females grew.
However, in 2007
Audi introduced the second generation of Audi TT’s to the world;
harnessing more power, more beauty, and more innovation. Today, the
Audi TT appeals to everyone. Those wanting a smooth and luxurious
drive whilst still owning the roads can opt for the TT Coupe, a sleek
and classic model which merges pleasure with practicality.
If it’s a sporty model you’re
after, the TT RS Roadster definitely won’t disappoint. With a 2.5
litre TFSI engine, going from 0 – 62mph in just 4.6 seconds, this
is certainly no feminine car. But whether it’s the Coupe or the
Roadster you choose, you can be assured that safety and quality is
paramount, because these are Audi’s fundamental elements.
With long-term quality at the forefront
of every build, the Audi TT can easily be a family car, not just an
expensive toy. With a large boot and spacious rear seats, the Audi TT
is the perfect car for those weekend getaways; cocooning you in your
driving position, you’ll feel like a sport’s driver winding round
those country bends and cruising down the highway.
The new Audi TT Coupe and Roadster 2.0
TDI Quattro models are the world’s first diesel powered sports
cars, and demonstrate the TT’s ability to adapt with growing needs
and trends. Appealing to a mass audience, and combining excellent
visuals with utility; the Audi TT is an icon of our generation, and
will always continue to be a timeless feat of motor engineering.
